Weekend post #1

Last night was so fun- it's so incredibly nice to have Amber home. It's hard though because I get so spoiled...and then just has to go back to school! Luckily we have Christmas break coming up and she will be home for about two weeks.

So last night we decided to go for sushi at Esoji, our fave Japanese restaurant in town. We got a few different things, but the weirdest was a new roll they have, which is a shrimp and cumcumber roll, topped with beef and applesauce! Very strange and not actually that delicious. haha. After dinner we went over to Sundance's to watch one of Hank's other bands play, Hot Skin. You can check them out here. He plays bass. He's also going to be releasing another project (still doesn't have a name) in the near future. It's my favorite music ever, and as soon as he finishes his vocals I'll post a link. So anyway we watched Hot Skin and then our friend Bob Hoag's band was in town, The Love Me Nots. I hadn't seen them life yet and I can say, after seeing them, that I LOVE THEM. They are definitely my new favorite band. You can check them out here. It was a great show. Afterward we all went home and I ended up going to sleep way too late!

It's 11:30 and I've been lazy all morning, which feels so good! I haven't been getting very much sleep this past week so it was nice for my body to catch up and revive itself. Amber and I are going to go to lunch at Hugo's in a bit, and then Hank and I are heading home for some family time with my parents, sister and Abe. Lauren and Abe recently bought their first house and got a dog (a rescue pup named Rex!), and Hank hasn't seen the house or met Rex yet, so we're both excited. We're also going to do an early Thanksgiving tomorrow which I am so, so excited about!

Thursday

Last night was the last night before Hank and the dudes left on tour. Hour of the Wolf played a small show after the premiere of Flip's new skate video at Calavera. It was such an awesome flick- skateboarding has always been in my life one way or another growing up- I was surrounded by skateboarders throughout junior high and high school, and I've always loved it so much. I've never been interested in skating myself, but I find it very interesting and fun to watch. So after the hour-long film HOTW played a set, sold their new shirts and 10-inches, and had an overall awesome night. Beforehand Bryce and I enjoyed a really, really yummy sushi dinner!

Here are some photos from last night:

lazy Monday

Oh what a wonderful day. It was a very quiet Monday at work- my kids are just winding down this quarter and I spent all day reviewing for their mid-term with them, and my Seniors were in the lab working on their Senior Research paper. It was a great day. Plus, knowing I have just four short days left until Fall Break is making it fly by. After work I came home and did absolutely nothing until about 8pm, which was much-needed and well-deserved, if you ask me! Around 8:30 I decided to get some cardio and my lifting done, so I dragged myself to the gym but it quickly turned into an amazing workout and I left feeling awesome.

I have a few different topics I want to write about this week, but today I'll keep it to this short update since I should probably head to sleep!

I got a little photobooth crazy about five minutes ago...

"But really..."

Hey guys!

Oh! Also, Hank is playing with the Misfits next month when they get back from tour. This "version" of the Misfits is annoying and stupid, but it should still be a fun show! I love the venue and location.

November, Hank's band is playing this when they get back from their full US tour

Best night

Last night was truly one of the best nights I've ever had. The Gaslight Anthem is by far my favorite band, and last night was the very first time I'd ever seen them live. I've been looking forward to this show forever, and when the day finally came Hank said he hadn't seen me that excited in a long time. It was almost ridiculous! We left early in the afternoon and headed down to my parents' house so we could relax a bit and get ready. We decided to do Green for dinner and it was delicious at usual. I'm not really into the processed mock meats, but I do love their Green burger and that's what I usually order. Yum. After dinner we headed over the Martini Ranch, where the show was. We met our dear friends Beth and Brett there, and soon after we arrived Erin got there. There were three bands on the bill- The Loved Ones, Murder by Death, and The Gaslight Anthem. The Loved Ones were awesome, but my real kudos has to go to Murder by Death. I have never seen them live and was blown away. Amazing music, and the singer's voice was so beautiful! So we listened to both bands, and finally TGA was up. The girls and I started on the 2nd floor, right at the railing so we could overlook the whole venue, but although it was an awesome spot, after about three songs we headed down the floor and ended up right up front. It was hands down the most amazing show I've ever been to. I never freak out over bands and only a few musicians/bands really elicit that kind of emotional response from me- Converge being a huge one- so it made me feel so alive that seeing them live affected me in such a way. I sang along so loud to every song and had the best time dancing and being silly with my friends. It was the best night!

We left pretty late and drove back up to Prescott, getting home well after 3:30am. I had to wake up around 6:45am so as you can imagine, it was a rough morning. However, I was still in the afterglow of such an amazing night that I still feel awake and it's 5:30! Awesome.

Right now I have a bunch of things to do around the house so I need to log offline for now. I may post again later. Love you blogger friends- here are some photos from last night...

Hank and I before dinner, I swear I am getting smaller and smaller. Look how much taller Hank is than me. Is it possible to shrink at age 27? :(
